I have been asked by several locals to let everyone know why we are not attending. As most of you know we are in the process of expanding our operation and changing our name. We will no longer be MDM Aquatic Management, yet The Coral Shoppe. Which will be a division of our parent corporation The Coral Conservation Company. Construction and setting up of the LLC has taken longer than we had anticipated and are very sorry that we will not be ready in time to make it to the swap. Danielle and I DO however look forward to seeing everyone in the near future. Right now we have a tentative schedule of having the NEW website operational by the first week of April.

Does anyone have any bright pink stylophora frags to trade/sell? I'd consider other colors as well but pink is first choice.

Also, I've had some items free up in fragswapper from someone who can not attend if anyone is interested, take a look. I'll also be posting some more this weekend (2 colors sun zoanthids, Astreopora, etc). :D

Is anyone interested in green star polyps ?
I have a few really good size peices
I started with one rock about 4x6
oneand a half years later almost 1/2 the tank is covered
time to share the joy

NEW Fluval 404 FS - on fragswapper

NEW Fluval 404 FS - on fragswapper

I just posted a Fluval 404 canister filter to fragswapper.com. Brand new, in packaging, never seen water, etc.. $85

I'd consider trade or partial trade for nicer corals/small fish.

Fluval 404 MSF Canister Filter ----------- Pumps 340 gph., for aquariums up to 100 gallons. The ultimate multi-stage filter. Multiple chamber design offers complete versatility in media selection and maintenance. Each unit comes complete with foam blocks for mechanical/biological filtration, Bio-max pre-filter media for mechanical filtration, and carbon for chemical filtration. Customize your filtration by adding additional media of your choice in combination with the Fluval Media Module partitions included with the filter. Additional new features include self-priming design, unitized hose assembly, recessed seal ring, ceramic impeller shaft, aqua-stop hose shut-offs, adjustable outlet adapter, increased capacity, twin foam screens. Includes 1 bag Fluval Carbon, 1 bag Fluval Bio-Max Ceramic Rings, 4 foam prefilter blocks.

Man, I wonder why so many people cancel there requests the last week of swapping. Kinda leaves the seller out to dry. Being the admin on fragswapper I almost hate opening my mail box and seeing this
FragSwapper:: Swapper Canceled a Request
Thats not really fair to anyone at this late date and time.
IMO

Erik-

I recently had to cancel 1 of my 10-11 items because the seller has not contacted me at all. He had a price of 20-35 dollars and he would not let me know which one my frag was. Although I was prepared to pay either, I was not happy to be left in the dark. I also can only stay for the first hour or so and I didn't want to keep the frag if I didn't know if he was going to be there at the time I will be.

That is just my reason for cancelling 1 item. I have also done some "cancelling" because I have met some people before the swap and I will meet others after the swap.

I think that these are all legit reasons for cancelling.

I do, however, hope that nobody is just dumping the sale without any reason at all.

There has been a good amount of cancels lately, I've seen longer reasons why which make sense too Things like "I've requested alot of things to make sure I get some good stuff so m cancelling things I don't really want now because I've found better". Which is unfair to everyone.
I think there needs to be a banner that states if your not planning on purchasing or swapping don't request the item, its not fair to other people that may want it and its not fair to the swapper that posted the item. It makes the site less effective as a tool for trading when people back out the week of the swap.
Just my 2 cents.
I myself have personally had a few backouts that I was totally fine with and some with no explaination. I just won't feel right doing that to someone.

Ditto, all good points Erik. I find this frustrating as well. I had a couple people contact me because they had a change in circumstances and had to cancel which is no problem at all. It's the other ones that overspend then have to cut back, see something they like better or sign up with the intent of cancelling some that appear just plain rude to me. I can't imagine there are too many cases where the seller cancels because they found a better trade or can sell it for more to someone else....commitments s/b upheld on both ends for this to work properly.

JMHO

yeah I'll agree with most of that too, but sometimes things come up that both sides can't uphold those commitments. The best you can hope for is enough time to find another buyer/trader, and the person has a LEGITIMATE reason for backing out.

That said I am sad to say I probably wont be able to make it because nobody at work will cover for me one fricken day. I was so pumped up to go because ive never been to one of these things, just to find out the one day i request off I don't get and not one of those selfish self loathing pieces of crap will do me a favor even though ive done it for each and every one of those lazy bastards...sorry i had to vent there but it ****es me off that some people can't show the same courtesy that is given to them.

That's a bummer Erik, though maybe good for me. Today is the first chance I've had to look over Fragswapper. Cool site! Is everyone relisting the items that people have had cancelled?

The same thing has been happening to me. Very frusterating. No comments from any of them as to why they backed out.

I think 99% out there get the accept part, its the cancelling request thats becoming a issue and making the site less of an effective tool in trading corals. If you requested a coral and can't make it to the swap IMO you should try to make arrangements unless there is a good reason why you cancelled. It's just the right thing to do. IMO.

Im not having many cancells, but I see alot of the people on swapper are. Which is a shame.
Erik

I just counted my e-mails - I had 7 cancellations. BTW, I only have 6 active listings (some have multiples available though)
