I've been cutting them in half and watching them split for a while now, have a decent group growing out, this one decided to go for a walk and it gave me a good chance to finally take a decent picture 
When they're full grown at 5" or so they look really awesome, this one's about half that size.

I have never seen a solid red maxi mini like that. I have a red mini with green center,but it only gets to about 1 1/2". Are you saying yours gets 5" and splits on its own? Very nice anemone. Glad to here you are propagating it.

Yeah it splits when it gets about that size, but I've only let one grow that big. This one is half of it about two weeks after splitting actually, you can still see the indent on the top right. The rest I frag when they get about 3" or so since I basically want to have a swarm of 5" ones in a year or so

Mine are the same as bayoucorals,mine are solid red with green mouth,and my biggest is about 2" across.I have 16 right now.

Sweet score!! I had a maxi mini addiction a few yrs ago but never saw one like that...
I had one that was about 5"s that looked like a circular rainbow when actinics were on...it pained me to sell it when I moved cross country.

I have had my mini red carpet for a year now with no splits. I am ready to put the knife to it, but it was expensive and I hoped it would naturally split. Were yours natural splits or did you cut them. I have not read any where about people cutting the mini carpets only the larger maxi minis. Everything I have read says the mini carpets split naturally and the maxi mini propagate easily by cutting them, but the maxi mini doesn't split naturally. That is why this thread caught my attention.

Hey Bayoucorals,I bought mine about 2 years ago.I feed them twice a week,Just wish they were bigger.My biggest one is about 2".they split on their own.I paid $40.00 for mine.try feeding it more to get it to split.

You can cut both, I've cut the minis and they did fine, but you can also just feed the minis pellet food to get them to split on their own. I've never had maxi minis that split before, this one's done it a few times but all in the same place so I think it has more to do with location. When they get big they go walking sometimes, which in my tank has meant walking directly under the frag rack and getting stuck there. They'll split themselves in half and then go through the frag rack

Organism,if weren't so far away I would give you one.Shipping would be high.When they were under LEDs the red and green mouth really popped.
