If either of those pics is southdown in the bowl - it is the one on the left.....

....there are no large pebbles in southdown like the sand on the right.....

Anybody looking for Some Sand in the Lehigh Valley area? I'm making a trip to buy a pallet of this stuff. Short drive and I'm tired of searching Home Cheapos for this stuff.... I should have 50 bags for sale....

Oh yea, GRUMPY VET YOU ARE THE $HIT!.... Killer thread. fairly new to this site and all I can say is WOW on this thread..... THanks for the phone number to get some of this sand.....

Okay so here is the deal that i've found thus far.

None of my home depot's in the area carry soutdown, oldcastle, or yardright tropical play sand. I called Home Depot Corporate and they show no record of every carrying it, Though they called and confirmed that Fredericksburg does in fact carry it. WEIRD

Lowes told me they would research the product, find it, and ship it to my local store - im still waiting on that.

I went to WAL-MART, i bout the orange and green bag. did the test and no fizz. the sku is 0538883418.

anyone have success with the walmart stuff? maybe im doing the vinegar thing wrong.

i found some stuff but not shur if its going to work its called playbox pure crushed marble non toxic, brilliant white, softer felling going to get a bag and give the vineger test see if it works

Has anyone had luck finding "Old Castle" in a Maryland home depot?

I've checked these locations with no luck:

Gaithersburg
Silver Spring

Any input would help!!

I hope you realize the packaging has not changed other than the main company name?...some are getting confused with this :)

Innovator,

Yeah it is the same kind, looks just like it does in the pics earlier in the thread. I noticed something on the bag that is hillarious. It says at the bottom not for aquarium use. How do they know! :worried: just kidding

They have it in Kentucky, but its called Old Castle, people might want to stop asking for it cause I haven't found Southdown anywhere, just Old Castle or Yard Right.

People might get confused like I did. It's called "Tropical Play Sand" it is made by Oldcastle. If you are asking someone at home depot make sure that you aren't asking for Oldcastle sand cause that is the manufacturer not the name of the product. You will more likely then not want to speak to someone out in the garden center.

c'mon out of all the S. Florida guys on this site no one knows where you can get Tropical Play Sand? By the way I work at HD down here in florida and I have only seen silica based sand in my store. Funny how the main manufacturers are based out of FL but you cant find it any where down here
