All you going BB?

Normally people aquascape thier tnaks then fill the substrate to keep digging inverts and fish from collapsing the rocks. I just put sand on the bottom and rock on top. Glass is fairly strong and doesnt scratch that easily or break (most tanks are made of tempered glass, which is basically reinforced and stronger than normal glass)

I just set up my 12 gallon. Planning on going BB due to the stuff that accumulates and causes Algea trouble.
I was thinking about just going with a 1/4 layer of gravel. I got it from a LFS to seed the tank.

Where in LI ?

Be careful with the gravel it will trap dietrus, causing a nitrate problem.

One of the best reef tanks I ever had (cleanest, healthiest coral wise) was a 20long BB. I had a power head with perforated 1/2" pvc along bottom back that blew any debris to front. I syphoned this off each morning (about a quart water) and replaced. I had spawning Christmas tree worms and had to remove mushrooms that kept overtaking the tank so fast it was unreal. I have always wanted to go back to a setup like that and probably will in a 65 corner I am getting ready to do.
