No big deal, if she has the same markings as the male, then you have two A. allardi. Nice clowns, you should be happy with them.

Edit: Both are allardi.

littlefish, if you're basing your ID of Mike's allardi on the fact that they look like your clown, then you have an allardi as well. Allardi are very accessible these days, and gasters are very, very, very difficult to get. Please post a pic of your clown.

The second stripe looks too wide (and extends into the dorsal fin)to be an allardi IMO......the store i work at got a trans shipment from east africa a month ago that had gasters and allardis so they are available (though not very often) and come from the same place........I will post a pic of mine when i get back home sat or sun

all these illustrations of allardi show a thin second stripe and a white caudal fin.....but call it what you like as long as you call it "cool"

Cool fish dude :)

Well those pics look very similar to what my guy looks like and what Mike's clowns look like......with that being said, when we got the shipment from africa the two types of clowns we got were distinctly different and we could easily tell the gasters from the allardis.......the fish room manager that ordered them is extreemly knowledgable (plus i'm a bit of a clown nut) and we both came to the conclusion instantly they were true gasters........to answer your question I work at big al's in philadelphia and we have no more gasters, they have been long gone........I just think if they are old enough to be male and female the second stripe should be thinner and the tail should be white like the illustrations in the link....but i'm willing to say i could be wrong.......gaster was just my first impression

Cool to see my babies used as a reference... I thought the first picture looked a bit like a Clarkii, but the second is surely an Allardi with the black in the pectorial fins.
The gasters have a full third stripe and more orange on the belly...

Enjoy Mike, they are wonderful fish...
