Almost 11 foot long tank!

Hi tattooreef,

I saw you are using ETSS skimmer too, my skimmer works great but when ever I clean my main display tank my skimmer loses skimmate right away; even I tried to do it very gently and hard to believe it could affect the pressure in the skimmer chamber for killing the skimmate. Do you experience the same problem? or know what might the cause to my skimmer?

Thank you!

Try wearing gloves when you work in the tank. The oil from your skin will cause the bubbles to stick together and make the foam head collapse.

Thanks I'll try with gloves; I think what you said makes sense; what happened was very strange to me.

i do experience the same thing as you, i even experience it right after a heavy feeding and anything like that , i honestly dont worry too much about as the skimmer is so efficient any way .

I scratched my head and was very curious what made it happen like that and thought it could be because of my setup. I tried to fix it; but nothing seems to fix the problem including wearing gloves like suggested but it didn't help neither. But I agree with you, with these kind of skimmers you tend to have more than enough skimmate most of the time anyway. It's good to know it is common.

patmack this is my tank jeremy just helped me out by starting the thread and by helping me upkeep some pics and stuff in here. i love the quality of the tank i cannot complain one ounce, other than the weight of moving it! lol. overall it has been an awesome tank with plenty of bracing and the glass is awesome super clear without being scratched real easy. i think over the year and a half that i have had it, it maybe has 1 or two tiny scratches in it, and i have even torn it down and moved it once.

Thats good to hear that it is a good quality tank. I thought it was your thread, I Just wanted to know if you guys had any pics of jeremy's tank.
