Well I cant believe it's almost 2 years old now, but June 1st, 2006 is the day my 225g was started. I thought I would share some pics.

This was putting the plumbing all together. 2 Darts, one for return and one for closed loop.

I waited 3 months before I added my first fish. It was a Long 3 months waiting, but well worth it. I have never had any fatalities due to ick.

Some new pictures now. I really caught the wrasse bug a year ago and now have quite a few wrasses.

Thank you, I guess I should also show what runs the reef. All the equipment is fed from a 2 inch manifold.

Post pics anytime you want!

Question. How did you hang those plumbing straps on a steel stand?
100_8398Small.jpg

I've been wondering how I'm gonna do that on my stand too. Self tapping screws was all I could think of w/ some silicone on the back to seal any potential water getting into the stand

Thanks Lunch,
I just snapped a few shots for you to show how it is attached.

One is attached like you mentioned and the other strap I used a pvc pipe cut on the ends and zip ties.

The regal was great for the first 7 months, but last month he took a likeing to my scolymias and, ---- no more donut corals. Other than those, he hasn't bothered anything else. I'm afraid though now that he has a taste for lps, he will venture onto something else.

bradley - Thanks for the shots of the hangers. I'll remember that when I go to plumb the tank. Some self tappers and some silicone and I'm in biz.

Great stuff BTW

Where'd you get the Mccosker's wrasse? I am currently looking for one.
Sorry, I dont have a McCoskers in my reef. I have tried a couple of flashers and they get through my netting. I have 22 wrasses and 2 tangs, 3 angels 6 anthias's, trigger, rabbitfish and a gobie.
And every other day when I clean out the skimmer, I wonder why so many. LOL

wow, amazing shots!
the aquascape is cool, very natural looking. also lends itself to alot of cool shadows that gives your tank great depth. when everything is bathed in light, it tends to flatten things out some.

what kind of wrasse are those with the white spots???? theyre beautiful!

Thank you, Those are Tamarin wrasses, Yellow tail and Red tail Tamarins. Thay are found in the South pacific around Hawaii.
They spend all day long searching the rocks looking for bugs.
And these guys bury thenselves in the sand at night, unlike the fairies.

cool.. how long hav you had them for??? from what I read on them most people consider Tamarins to be somewhat difficult to keep long.

They can eat pyramid snails right?

I'd really like one some day though. Any tips for keeping them?

I've had the red tail for about a year and a half and the yellow for 7 months now. I'm sure they would eat the pyramids.
I haven;t done anything special while keeping them, although I have heard the same thing. Shipping and handleing I believe to be the biggest problem. Lots of room and alot of live rock for them to forage on, I believe thats the secret.
