Almost no polyp extension on any SPS... LNS??

I wouldn't increase your lights until you get the par meter because if your corals are getting too much par you might make it worst. Try feeding more or feeding amino acid first and see if that makes a difference. Amino acid should increase your polyp extension but I recommend dosing half the recommended dose at first as too much can cause red slime.

Update us when you get the par meter.

+!, you'd be amazed that you don't need as much as some would recommend. I've seen successful grow out frag tank with only 300 par at the top surface (AI fixture).

I wouldn't change your lights cycle without the par meter first. Very easy to burn corals with leds. I wouldn't back them off either though unless there's some bleaching going on.

How are other corals doing? Lps? Etc...

Liquidcache,

I had this issue for some time and found the same as others pointed out. Feed heavy and added more fish but that balance can be a pain so I started dosing acropower. You might also read up on dosing milk.

Acropower really brings out PE in my tank (although PE has not been a major issue for me)

Also do you carbons dose? Vodka, vinegar, bio pellets? If so dial it down.

If you have a QT tank take the Coral Beauty out for a few weeks and see what happens. I had one, was a model citizen, never saw him nip anything, had lousy PE. Removed him and within a week all was better. I am starting to believe there may be some kind of chemical marker they give off, something similar and the coral just "know" he's in there. I never saw him nip anything. Just a thought.

Got pictures of your reef?

I agree here. Its gonna be a fish if your parameters are good. I added a flame back angel and within a couple months, no polyp extension. Couldnt tell if he was nipping at corals. Removed him and within a month, polyps, second month wicked extension 24 hours all day, everyday.

Here is one Example SPS I choose for testing. Don't have FTS before acropower I can take one today when I get home.

Before Acro Power

About a month after Acro Power

You would have to have to identical tanks set up to run a acro power test. theres no way to judge growth. im also using it but it could just be water in the bottle for all i know.:headwallblue:

Palehorse,

The picture I posted was not to show growth but color and PE. I can tell you that growth is not something I have seem improve since acropower. Also I strongly agree that to have a valid test I would need more than 3 systems with same setups and a couple of frags from same colony for data gathering. You are right as far as we know it might be water. But I can say so far with the addition of AcroPower PE has improved and colors (Although slowly) has improved. I have not changed any other items in 2 months. I only use ESV 2 part on a doser and Vodka same amount 3ml daily. No trace or other additives or foods.

Z

Just one small piece of advice. Don't trust anything from a color strip PO4 test kit like Salifert, etc. You will get much more accurate readings from something like a Hanna meter. I made the switch years ago when I thought I was running at 0 PO4, then a friend tested with his Hanna and I learned that I was actually sitting at over 3ppm.

In terms of polyp extension, good luck. It can be a daunting task to figure out the cause of those kinds of issues.

ESV has trace elements . Im also using it over the BRS 2 part kit. once i switched to esv it was night and day with the colors and growth. my tank is so small that those jugs last me about a year lol
