Almost one year old

My tbs tank will be one year old on April 21, 2009. I think it looks much older. I am still in love with it, and I will NEVER settle for anything but tbs rock.

Before setting up my 65g tank I had no experience with saltwater at all. Freshwater experience was from years and years ago.

This FTS was taken on Jan 31. Following pictures are some close ups of different sections of the tank.

This is my second tbs tank. It is a species specific tank for an angler fish. Set up in Sept, 2008. FTS, then following that a couple pictures of my angler, Andrea, who is an antennarius maculatus.

gorgeous tank! TBS is the only way to go! My LFS is amazed (and a bit jelous I think) of the rock and is even thinking of getting some for his home tank.

Very nice pics! Looks like you have a little bit of everything in there :-)

Thank you! I do have a little of everything.... a newbie, ya know. What I envision is that I will settle in and head in a definite direction. My future goal is a true biotope of some sort. It will take me quite some time to get there. I'm having a lot of fun trying everything out! I figure one day a certain way will hit me in the head and I'll know what direction to take.

WOW, Barb! What a seriously colorful tank! Very striking and actually quite fascinating because there is so many different creatures to see. Biodiversity is beautiful and if you like your tank that diverse why go in a specific direction?

Andrea is gorgeous, too :) She reminds me of the frogfish I have seen..difficult to spot but a tresaure to find...very interesting fish. What sort of personality does she have?

Teri, my "original" plan for this tank was a "clam tank" with high light corals i.e. sps. BUT! I just fell in love with all the different things that are available. I'll see what does best for me, and you know how likes change over time. I'm sure the tank will evolve!

Andrea is a very cryptic fish. While she is very 'sedate' appearing, I think that is not an accurate description of her personality. I feel she's watching everything all the time. Her eyes are always moving. If I'm sitting at her tank, she is keeping her eyes on me to see if I'm going to drop something tasty in for her. She'll come down off the rocks and prowl around while I'm sitting there, too.

Sometimes she'll "swim" around, but "swim" is a loose term.. she rather tumbles around in the water column. She allows crabs and the serpent stars to crawl over her. She has a favorite ricordia florida she sits on... must be the cushiest one! :)

When she hunts she is very intense; she lures differently for feeder shrimps than she does for the feeder fish. And she is lightning fast when she strikes! Like, you can't even SEE her moving. It's a blur.
Then, she take about two minutes to turn her body around! It's too funny.

I LOVE her.
