Am I crazy for doing this?

So I'm very new to the hobby. I currently own a 90 gallon tank but have been given the golden opportunity of upgrading to a 265gallon established tank. I love the idea of the big tank. It's tottaly turn key. All I need to do is move it. Lots of work I know but it's all ready to go. My question to those here with way more experience. Why should or shouldn't I do this. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge you guys share here all the time.

Haha definitely do it. I have a 600, and the more volume the better. The way the fish behave and interact in a larger tank is more natural and appealing. After seeing fish swim around in a 600, keeping them in something like a 90 seems weird to me. Basically, you are not crazy, and should do it!

LOL. Trust me this is a big tank for me. And I can't even imagine the beats you guys have. But after bing in the hobby for very little a tank this big can be intimidating. But I'm doing it for sure. Can't wait till it is in my Living room. LOL. Thanks guys.

The bigger the tank, the more stable. When it comes to saltwater tanks, bigger is always better when it comes to long term stability. As such, if I were in your shoes and had the space and money, I'd be all over it. Granted, I was in your shoes once and worked my way up the totem pole to my current tank which I've had for over 20 years now.

$7000 invested in a 210 so far no water in it.

Yeah I had a 450 years ago and the cost really got to me, between electric for halides and salt for waterchanges it got a bit pricey, but energy efficient lights and pumps of today would really help offset cost good luck with the setup

I'm getting everything in this setup. It is a monster. About 14 fish, tons of coral. 3 different colonies of Montis that are huge so I'm worried about moving those bc they always break. Over 300# of like rock. I mean it is a big move but I have a friend who does services and maintenance and he's gr8 at it that I'm gonna have to use for the next 6 months or so bc in having back surgery in January(that's my biggest worry when it came to getting a big tank) he's gonna handle the move. I'm also taking my brother with me and rented a 17' box truck. We are gonna take our time and do it right.

I'll defiently post up some pics as soon as it is up and running. I just moved my 90g to my home office. So we are al ready and pumped up to go tomorrow morning. Can't wait.

Crazy for upgrading? Nah... crazy for thinking this is a "turn key" tank. I would be a bit hesitant. Yeah you get all the equipment, all the live stock, and what not but I have seen more than once corals that that leave one tank to go into another (tank breaking down) die off because the new tank was not set to the right parameters or what not.

If there is a sand bed, ditch it, because there's no way that's going to move without releasing all the crap (literally and figuratively) that's in it.
