Am I crazy for doing this?

Crazy for upgrading? Nah... crazy for thinking this is a "turn key" tank. I would be a bit hesitant. Yeah you get all the equipment, all the live stock, and what not but I have seen more than once corals that that leave one tank to go into another (tank breaking down) die off because the new tank was not set to the right parameters or what not.

If there is a sand bed, ditch it, because there's no way that's going to move without releasing all the crap (literally and figuratively) that's in it.

Boy where you right? I never thought it was gonna be easy but it took a lot of work. It went well though. That's one heavy a$$ tank. It's well built. I followed your advice and ditched the sand. Used only less than 50% on the original water and even then by the time everything was setup there was still high nitrates. So i went ahead and did another 50 gallon water change. I'm planing on changing another 100 gallons tomorrow and see if that helps at least a bit. I scrubbed all the rocks to get the algae and a ton of bristle worms. Only stock in the tank right now is a Flame Angel and an Engineer goby about 10" long. This guy is awesome. Everything already running but i need to find a good skimmer in a hurry. All the corals with the exception of some Montiporas tha I had no room for are in my 90 gallon tank which I thankfully had practically empty. 1 coral and one fish. A huge anemone is also now sitting in my 90 gallon. This thing when completely open is about 20" in diameter. She was a little upset yesterday night but is doing good todar. Spit a bunch yesterday but kept her colors and closed it's mouth today. :bounce3:

Once the whole system is set up the way I like and want I'm gonna have so much fun adding stuff to it. Can't wait.

Thanks for everyone's advice. No pics yet as I literaly finished everything at 5:30ish, took a shower shaved and left for work. I'll take some pics tomorrow when I get home.

keep check on ammo and nitrite to make sure you dont set off a cycle.

Yeah that's my main worry. Can anyone here recomend a skimmer? I have an SWC that I love but it is too small for this tank. It works like a charm in my 90 buth this is a different animal and the bioload will be decnt once it's all back to normal.

Thanks Slief. You make some good points. I'm going to pick up everything on Saturday. Im super excited. By the way your set up sound sick. When I grow up I wanna be like you. LOL

:LMAO:

You sound like my son. Then again, maybe not because he thinks he doesn't want to be like me and hasn't realized yet that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Congrats on the new setup. You made a good decision. You don't want my advice on a skimmer because it will likely break the bank! I'm a Bubble King fan myself. That said, take a look at ATB. Reef Octopus also has some decent skimmers as does Life Reef and Aquamaxx. Best advice I can give you is to choose one that is properly rated for your display size.

Thanks slief. The SWC I have on my 90 is gr8. And I've been researching the ones you mentioned more or less. MY main concern is that their rating si accurate. Acuamaxx so far I like a lot.
