am I drying my LR out correctly?

I have a rock that is infested with blue clove polyps and green hair algae so I decided to take it out and put it in the sun to kill off everything(after trying everything else).
once that is done, I figure i'll rinse it in some fresh salt water and then can I just put it back in the tank or is there something else I need to do?

Gina. Acid bath those bad boys... easy to do. Cleans em of ALL organics. And makes it more porous therefor more surface area :-)

Or bleach em in a strong bleach/water solution for a few days. After 4 days dump the water, add fresh water and amquel/prime or any other chlorine remover. Soak for a few days than repeat till they jist smell like the ocean :-)

thanks Terry! I'm glad I asked, I really thought it was just going to be as simple as drying it out and rinsing it off.

Good luck Gina... I went a different direction with my blue cloves... lost corals... but in the end I'm glad to be totally rid of them so I feel your pain.

well, it's sitting in bleach & water after being in 110 degree weather for a day.
Tomorrow I'll start soaking it in fresh water with amquel for a couple of days/ rinses.
Lotta work for a little 2 lb rock! While looking at my tank I noticed some gha behind and attached to ANOTHER rock!BTW, I bought an urchin originally but he seemed to enjoy my corraline more than the gha.
I'm glad I just have a nano at this point and my corals are still unattached, I just spent some dollars at vivid and this was not what I needed,This was a real pia.
Thanks for your input guys.

Any updates Gina?? I have a few pieces of rock with all kinds of unwanted stuff on them like Cyano, GHA and someone told me I have strawberry majano. I don't really want to do the Acid thingy but you think I can just get away with the beaching only??

I just gave about 70 lbs of rock an acid bath. It's really easy & safe if done correctly (muriatic acid added to water NOT the other way around...) Feel free to PM me with any questions. Good luck!

I just soaked the rocks in a strong solution of bleach and water for about two days then I rinsed them in freshwater for a couple of times and then soak them in freshwater for two days that also had Amquel in it and then let them dry in the sun. After that I put them in the tank and everything survived.
No more GHA nor blue cloves except one small frag I kept to give away.
