Am I insane?

Myself being a firm believer in more light says if you can do it, just do it.
Not everyone has the same tank setup & corals etc.
I think its funny when people say something is too much light, maybe I can raise the light higher than you can.

Really a 250w Radium is almost as powerful as a 400w Radium if its run on the spec ballasts, only 30w difference between them unless you overdrive the 400w.

I don't like to post pics of the tank, but Ill snag one and add it. I have one on my 15 and another on my 30. Works awesome. Let me see if I can manager to host a pic and post it. Ill try now.

Sorry for the washed out cell phone pics. The colors are much better in person. All was started from 1 in frags(SPS), or single head (LPS) Corals added roughly 6 to 7 months ago. I feel the growth is pretty good for that amount of time, but I don't have much to compare to other then from those on this site.

I'm not proud of my tank but I try to help people see what different lighting combos look like.

I think your pics are great, blue overpowers pics a lot but your corals/tank look great! Looks like a radium on a cell phone.

Thanks for sharing.

You are absolutely right, The pics come out way bluer then it is in person. I'm just try to keep my stuff on the DL until it is perfect, which it may never be. This forum is great to find out what others have done and their experiences prior to blowing your own loot. I'm just throwing these pics out there to show that alot of light can work on some setups.

I see what you got now, that's a lot of light. Seems like you could just run 2 at a time huh? Haha

Can you run them one at a time ? If so that is awesome. Run the far (left?) light, then turn on the next light, then the next light turns on while the first light turns off , then the last light turns on as the second light turns off etc...like a natural sun rise & set.

I can, and that's what I plan. I think the light distribution is such that it won't be noticable though. I run an aquatronica controller and they are all on separate timers.

That's awesome. Less hours per bulb that way.
Ya I think they have lumenarc style reflectors so they spread the light well.

Sfiligoi DDE or DSE, jimmy ?

Single ended. I originally order the 4x150 hqi but this was all they had left. They are nearly LED only now. I've just had the most success with MH in my career. I also love the look of radiums. I'll post a PAR meter reading soon, it's really high! Shocking I know.
