Am I wrong here...?

I recently purchased a "Babies breath" favia from Naz42 and shortly there after I noticed that it did not look like a babies breath favia. Knowing that favias change colors pretty readily I initially thought that it might not be colored up or something. I then read up on the babies breath and found that it is known for keeping it's color in very low lighting. This made me worry a little, so I contaced Naz42 to see who he had gotten it from. He replied "I think photobret". So I contacted Photobret and he said that it was NOT a babies breath favia, that it was actually called a "Pixie Dust" favia. When I relayed this to Naz42 he simply replied "Pretty sure he told me babys breath either way its sweet"... Ok... So... am I wrong in thinking that I got ripped off here? Although it is just a name, the coral was clearly misrepresented (intentionally or not). I replied to Naz42 expressing my dissapointment in the fact that it was really not what he said it was and he replied with a very nasty PM calling me all sorts of names that I can't say here. This was SHOCKING! I have dealt with him several times in the past and considered him one of my buddies here on RC, but man did I see his TRUE COLORS! I was SERIOUSLY appalled at the response as well as the follow up response continuing to call me names and telling me to "stop crying" and so on... :eek1: I am just so shocked and confused I needed to post to get an outside perspective.

Am I wrong here? Is it buyer beware and get a friggin DNA test on all coral to make sure it is what the buyer says it is? And this is somebody I thought I knew and could trust! I am not saying he did it intentionally, although I have my suspicions since I have a thread where photobret CLEARLY states that the one he gave him was the "pixie dust" and all he said was "That was 6 months ago, you think I remember the name of every coral I have?" Um... YEAH! Especially if it was a babies breath favia! The babies breath is not your run of the mill LFS favia frag that most likely doesn't have a name. It has a name because it is a collector coral and you would know if it was or not.

This seriously bothered me so much that I took time out of all the stuff I have going on right now just to write this. I really just needed to vent and get an outside perspective on this...

Don't know you or the other party but what you have posted makes good sence. To me the other partys nasty responce is a admition of guilt.

That's funny that's what I said to him. If it really was an honest mistake he wouldn't have immediately been so defensive and nasty. If I showed you the exact PM's you would think there were PM's missing cause it just came from out of nowhere like he just snapped! That's what really confused me...

I cant believe you wanna bring this out into the public!!

I told him i thought it was a babys breath i do admit i was wrong it was a pixie dust. My problem with this is instead of just bringin it to my attention He told me i ripped him off and called me a liar! If he would have just brought it to my attention i would have givin his money back.

The pm your talking about is the one where you told me how jacked up it was and that i was a liar. Thats insulting to me!! This doesnt belong in the public forum. I cant bielive after all ive done for you in the past your gonna try and out me like this. Its funny when you had your nano up for nano of the month there was so much stuff in there that i gave you for FREE or close to it and now this is how you repay me.Thanks! Be carefull when dealing with austin !!

IMO it doesn't matter what you have done for someone in the past. If you misrepresented something whether intentional or not it is your responsibility to corect your mistake.

My 2 cents

If you paid for a baby's breath, upon finding that it was not wrong the seller should have issued a return or switch you for the right coral, there should have been no argument. the fact that there was an argument would constitute a problem on the seller's side in my opinion.

I agree !! If he would have brought it to my attention with out insulting me i would have gladly givin his money back! It does make a differance
on what you've done for people in the past When someone you considered a friend in the hobby and someone you've really helped out in the past takes a conversation that was and should have stayed in private to the puplic forum and tells everyone that knowingly ripped him off! It stings a little. All because i made a mistake on what a coral was called. Its just name!! He saw the picture on my thread and liked it came over and saw it in person and liked it and then 2 weeks later decides hes not happy with it.

Again i agree!! But when you make an honest mistake and that person calls you a liar, says you knowingly misrepresented a coral and ripped him off your not gonna be to motivated to help that person out. I dont need his money but wont give it back on principle alone.

not to sound like a jerk but am i wrong or is this kind of childish.. it was a mistake, oh well. deal with it like adults, dont blast each other in a thread.. best way is to leave of names.. that way the person youre dealing with doesnt get made into a liar or cheat...

make it simple bring the coral back get the cash back case closed, why drag it out

+1 for the pancake by the way

I dont know if this really needed to be posted up but I have had some trouble as well.

I spent a LOT of $ getting corals from him. And he gave me more than what he posted which was awesome. I get home and put the two monties I got from him and the zoas in my tank. (His tank looked legit so I didnt feel it necessary to dip) About two hours later both the montiporas are completely bleached out.

I contacted him the same day I picked the corals explaining the situation and he was sorry but didnt seem to want to help or compensate in any way.

Just my experience...
