Amazed at Duncan regeneration!

I have to say I am totally amazed at Duncans ability to regenerate. I have fragged my Duncans a few times. Usually I cut it way down low on the skeleton where there is no tissue left on the branch. This time I fragged a single polyp and I cut through the tissue. I mounted the polyp on a rock with a " Oatey's Fix it stick" after a couple of weeks I noticed the the tissue is already encrusting over the putty. Now, I have done this before so I am not suprised . What really amazed me was that the cut on the mother colony healed in a couple of days and has already regenerated A new head, It is small but it is there.
Going to get a pic now!

Here it is , sorry I could not get a better pic. Don't confuse it with the rounded appendage with the whole in the tip. That is a coral barnacle to the right of that you can see the new head pushing out and the "tenticles" forming.
Just another of the many reasons I love Duncans!

Yeah, since I bought mine it quickly became on of my favorites.

I don't know about cheap my LFS sells them for 25 dollars a head. I can see paying that for these guys because they do grow so fast and for a small investment you can alot more over a corse of a year!

I think I got like six heads on line for like 37 bucks but that was almost 2 years ago. Hard to find them that cheap now.

+1 They can get up there.

Not trying to steal ypur thread but here is another story to the testament of how resilient they are.

First is an older picture (it is in front of the wrasse. The heads had grown to halfdollar size before the incident)

Next is after I added an aiptasia eating file fish from a friends tank. He are them down to the skeleton.

Now 2 weeks later they are not as large but no doubt going to survive.

I appologize for the blue pictures.

Duncans are awesome. They are my favorite coral. They are pricey here, but they grow quickly, are forgivable when it comes down to being knocked off their perch on the rockwork, and are attractive. And they are easy to feed!....unlike Frogspawn :debi:
