Amazingly tough for a delicate fish -- Red tailed tamarin wrasse

Time for the next update, our tamarin is still doing very well and loving all the territory of our rebuilt 220 for bug hunting, here are some pics my brother in law took a couple months ago

Awesome to read this story over the year. Now I simply have to have a trio of these fish. Always been put off by their delicate nature but looks like it can be done.

I am sorry to hijack the thread forehand. I just want to ask if the red tail will ever change sex? I have a really healthy trios for about 2 months now. Since there are many wrasse expert on here, I just want to know so I can add a male if need be. Thanks.

They are delicate in the sense that they are difficult shippers, they do injure their mouths if they can't dig into the sand and hide and they are delicate in that few adapt. If they do adapt they are hardy.

They all start out as females and the dominant one turns into a male.

Wow, glad to hear she is doing so well! This is one Wrasse Genus that the females ACTUALLY are PRETTIER than the males IMO.
Personally, I'm just getting into wrasses, plus got the Wrasse & Parrotfish book in the Reeffish series. Kind of sorry to learn they are delicate shippers. However, if someone follows certain procceedures, they can be shipped.
Please keep writing updates!

Matthew
