Amino acid supplements - Acropower

So I decided to start weekly dosing amino acids for my SPS to see if I can get some better growth and color. They grow and have good color now, but any improvements are welcomed.

Anyone have specific experience with Acropower? I just did my first dose yesterday. It seems to have very good reviews but wanted to solicit honest opinions from other reefers.

I dosed it per instructions for 3 months, then stopped, and saw no changes in my SPS colors, which were quite good before I started, IMO. Having read a couple articles on dosing aminos, what I believe we are doing is simply feeding the corals. Nothing wrong with that, and we may see some faster growth from it. And if there is some color improvement, then what the aminos may be doing is filling in some essential amino the coral with the improved color is lacking or unable to get or synthesize from what it can pull out of the water column.

So in other words, if your corals are getting all the amino acids they cannot synthesize and the required elements to synthesize the amino acids they can from what you feed the tank, you might see increased growth but not color. If the Acropower provides some amino acid or the building blocks of aminos they are missing, then you may see color improvement.

None of what I read could definitively say "yes, dosing amino acids makes coral color better." So comments you read saying it improved the colors of my coral, and those stating it did not could both be true, depending on the nutritional status of the coral in question before you start dosing.
