Ammonia Reading in Denver Tap Water

Quick question:

I tested my tap water today for ammonia and it showed up between .25 and .50 ppm. Is this normal, or is it time to get a new test kit? I wasn't sure if chloramine shows up as ammonia in a water test...

This is normal, per my experiences. It varies from season to season. In the winter, usually more.

Actually pretty good as far as tap water goes - but a good reason to use RODI!!

Yeah, agreed -- I'm cycling (fishless) a freshwater tank and, out of curiosity, tested the Tap for ammonia, assuming it would read zero. When it didn't, I wondered if my test kit was broken or if this was normal.
