Technically, all the artificial hybrids we see in captivity can be given new species status. Doesn't have to be naturally occuring, though there is plenty of debate on that. I am sure some ichthyology graduate students are looking for dissertation projects. Hmmm...."Dear Important Fishery Person, I'd like to cross A. mccllochi with A. fuscocaudatus to see if they create a new species. Permits please. Love and kisses."
