An unusual ACANS colony

I've had this colony of acanthastrea for awhile now. It has distinct heads, but they grow close together and sometimes you can't really tell they're distinct polyps. The color is very deep and bold, but not bright like many you see. It's pretty slow growing compared to other acans colonies I've had. Thought I'd share a picture for discussion. It seems unusual to me, but perhaps someone in the RC community has seen or has a colony in their tank.

i've seen this same color pattern before it's an Acanthastrea bowerbanki if you were wondering why it's a slower grower then your other Acanthastrea lordhowensis's that's why.

def not a acan lord. i was thinking something like bower or micro maybe tough to tell. but def not a acan lord. bowers usually have large polyps and and dont grow that way. but maybe

The polyps are fairly large - the largest are around 1 1/2 inches. The whole colony is around 5 inches across. I know it's hard to identify from the polyps themselves rather than the skeleton. It could be bower, but the ploys aren't as tight to the skeleton as most BB colonies I've seen. The colony tends to become all feeder tentacles after dark - looks pretty cool.

I have something very similar. My wife calls them the Incredible Hulk corals. :hmm5:

I always like unique looking corals. This one is in that category. The yellow ring is very cool.
