A LFS nearby just got in a beautiful Anampses lennardi at a very good price. I know most of the anampses are relativly difficult to keep. what do i need to know? The fish is awesome, i just dont wanna flush the money down the toilet.

tank is a 300DD, almost a year old, with sps, a 1 1/2" - 2" sand bed, and about 25 wrasses, anthias, and a few tangs.

thanks.

I dont have any hands on experience with them but I did do a little research at one point.
I would treat them like any tamarin or leopard except they prefer colder water. They live in the sand, dont like aggressive tank mates and are considered an expert level fish. If you go for it, please let us know how it goes for ya. HTH a little.

Just curious on the store? Is it Trident Pets? That place is great. I used to go to school there and they had the best stuff at the best prices.

But as far as care I think they are one of the bigger Anampses sp. and I would think (though I've never kept one) that they would need a deeper sand bed. And the cooler water thing.

You need to ensure that the fish is well fed. When I brought mine in it was over 4 days before it ate anything. By day 10 it was demolishing any mysis or brine.

Keep a close eye on the swim bladder and look for any infections from the sand.

Great fish...I wish i had not sold mine.

Thanks guys. I was gonna wait till it was at the store for a few weeks and eating well. But im still reluctant. My tank is usually 80, my sandbed is shallow, and I already.have a lot of fish. I think im asking for trouble.

@ tcmpets- its not trident but they're only 5 mins from my house and they usually have one of the best selection in town.

I was fortunate enough to acquire one lovely female today. I keep my tank temp between 74-77, so I'm hoping she will do good in her new home.

Thanks guys. I'm waiting right now as we speak, for her to pop out of the sand. It's always a waiting game the first couple of days.

Heh heh I just put four in...two in the SPS and two in the 2M. Awesome fish and extremely interactive. No pics for now until I get over the "jinxed period" :). My guy has another three 3" er females that I'm trying to get for $60 each lol
