at michigan and orange. One of those bistro places. Big salt tank. Maybe 160ish. Watched fish flashing off stuff and laying on the bottom. People there know nothing or who to call or just dont care.

I left barely able to eat my fries......

That's really sad :(:( I'm not sure who the proper people to complain to would be but I'd first contact a manager at McDonalds and see what happens from there...

I hate seeing this stuff because its like, if you see someone mistreating a puppy or kitten, you can probably call the cops there on the spot and they'll try to rectify the situation.. But because its a fish tank and the animals aren't as cuddly they probably wouldn't care quite as much or in the same way :(

Its a shame. I wonder if they deal with a fish wholesaling type business that brings the fish out to them on a normal basis. I know thats how a lot of these businesses work, and if thats the case then shame on the wholesalers for continuing to give them more fish.

I would contact the manager there and complain to them. Let them know that you are a member of ORCA, so they are aware that they are dealing with more than one upset customer. If it is a franchise, wich it most likely is, and they don't act like they care, call the coporate office. The corporate offices can and do controll every aspect of the franchise and thier bussiness practices. You may want to go armed with a list of local companies that do tank service, so that they can contact them for help if they do want to fix the problem.

I tried doing something about the tank at that mcdonalds. The yellow tangs tummys were so pinched it was shocking. And here less than a foot away people were eating burgers and fries right in front of those poor starving fish. The mgr on duty told me " we don't OWN those fish, we RENT them" in a snotty voice. I shared my concerns with the only person that would listen, a cook. I wrote the company and got the "pat answer" to all their problems, and a couple free tickets. Basicly, they could care less.
:(

Anyone know the exact address to that store? I will be more then happy to send some mail to the corporate office. I agree it should be no different then if they had puppies locked in a cage a starved them for all to observe.

That's one email ;).
Everyone needs to send a message to Mr.Gary Oerther, the owner of the company. If that doesn't do it, then off to McDonald's corporate.

Maybe even give them a call lol.

Phone: (407) 859-7123

Remember to address everything to Mr. Gary Oerther. He is the owner, and i have a policy of start at the top and end at the top. He may have no idea, so let's be professional about it. A few mentions about calling a news station might be helpfull though ;).

If I had to guess they probably don't maintain the tank themselves. They probably have a service that does it for them...which is even worse kind of because someone is getting paid to kill fish.

yeah, carol said that in her post. I looked on the tank for a name/sticker/phone number to report it to or find out the business...but there was nothing.
