And the adventure begins... Thanks Thomas!

might've also missed in my edited post....there are dimable buckpucks that don't have the pot (if ya gonna use the RK to do it) that are about $4 cheaper

if ya decide to use wall warts for power instead of power supplies linked above, i also have some extra 2.5mm barrel plugs w/ wire already soldered on them ready to go if ya need :D

the wall warts i used are HERE - $9/ea shipped

now get to work on your paper

LOL

I did see the dimmable buckpucks without pots. :)

And trust me, I have PLENTY of 2.5mm jacks from building guitar pedals. ;) But thanks!

And I am about to start on my paper... its due at 6AM... lol. Just a 1 to 2 page book summary, though... hopefully it will only take me about an hour or two. :)

*WHEW!* Just finished. Now its time for some SLEEP. I'm supposed to go diving tomorrow morning with some buddies, but I think I'll have to pass as I'm EXHAUSTED. But I can't wait to get up and figure out what/how I'm going to build the LED fixture. :D I may even order it tomorrow. ;)

i just found a store credit at the critter burried in a slot in my wallet, so after all this thread, i'm thinking of going & pick up a small tank at the critter (can't even think about affording the jbj pkg i want at the moment).

i have a piece of 1/4' acrylic i can make a false rear wall & baffles for it. i also have a spare mini-jet pump that was gonna be for the spraybar for my fuge that i can use along w/ the LEDs from my DIY bar & the hydor flo deflector for the 29 build.

so all told, i have pretty much everything i need to piece together a setup once i have a small tank.......i hope you are happy w/ yourself for making me think of all this LOL

LOL Its actually the opposite, James! YOU are the one who got me on all of this goofy LED stuff! :D So I hope YOU'RE happy! :p

I'm known for taking pics of projects I do, Sean. I'm going to put together my latest spreadsheet tonight and figure out how much of what I need to get. :)

Brandon

let me know before ya order.....i might have ya get me 2 white leds. i need 1 to replace the one i broke & 1 for a refugium light
:D

Just 1 for a refugium light? Oh, come on, James... you can do better than that. You need at least 6 to light a fire on your chaeto! :D

Brandon

Hey Brandon as far as the skimmer goes. You should p/u the I-tech for your DT and use your Reef Octopus on the Nano. Now that would be a sight.

LOL Great idea, Thomas! I could then add 50% volume to it!

Hey James... have you seen the meanwell drivers? Holy crap! 24 LEDs at about 700ma (not as bright as 1000, but they won't die as quickly either :) ), built in power supply, 0-10v dimming (IE, it will work on my RKE for dimming programs), and its only $38. Thats just a few more dollars than a buckpuck and a powersupply and it does A LOT more LEDs! :)

Brandon

heard of them in the other thread, but for some reason i thought they were alot more expensive.......think i got them confused w/ the xitanium on ledsupply (which are like WOAH!!! expensive)

I know what you mean.... he is known for doing that

Hey! I'm not THAT bad... but I do tend to research and feed info... but its not force feeding when you guys eat it up! :D :p

And check into the Meanwell drivers, James. :) Honestly, they're quite freaking awesome!

i might be breaking down 1 of my lil jbj pico tanks soon.....make a great desktop seahorse tank for ya

i'm just sayin :D LOL

Brandon, I feel you, I would absolutely LOVE to have a display room with a bunch of "theme" tanks, progressing through all of the parts of the near shore ocean (inner tidal zone through the slope wall), specialty tanks (seahorses, cold water, etc, etc, etc). I would be happy with about 30 tanks, 30g would be okay for most of them, with maybe 4-6 90 gallons and one big tank. It'd be a full time job though!

If you like the planted tanks, check out www.marineplantedtanks.com.
