Ok going to be getting my tank today there's three I got to choose from a 125 150 180. Just waiting to hear from one to go get it. There all 6 feet long just the width and height are different. So now do I try getting an ro di system? Or just use mix to get it going? I wanna start getting it going today and idk if anyone has a system near here so will mix just be ok if I can't buy one? Also what size sump would be good? And I want a fuge. So what size and how do I set them up? Just start with those questions for now! Lol

Yes, get a good ro/di unit before you even start filling up the tank. Invest in a good one that will be large enough for your water changes and ect. I would look at some on the RC sponsors site as you can get a good one at a good price. For the sump size, get one that will be large enough for expansion and to house your skimmer if that's where you are putting it. I always try to get a sump/fuge as large as I can.

Is the tank reef ready? With skimmer etc. So all you need is water, rock, and sand to get it cycling?

get the biggest sump you can fit in, in the long run you will be pleased that you did, plenty of room for the skimmer reactors, heater etc etc, also a ro-di is a must, what lighting are you planning to get

180 imo. need the front to back depth for aquascaping.

ro/di

skimmer

lights for a reef eh? t5 or metal halides. the debate continues.

i got my 125 gallon! got a 240 kimmer for 100 and an over flow box all for 500. tank also has a stand. umm today im going to clean it up!!

Any pics? What make is the skimmer? You will be best drilling the tank yourself. IME the over flow box will give you an endless amount of problems. I'm sure you dont want to wake up to 85 gallons of water on the floor.

o... is there a way i can not have an over flow? and just run tubing to the sump and fuge?

i understand what the guys are saying, however i have a overflow box and i use a priming pump, should the power go off and then on again the system starts again on its own no problems, its not staright forward though, i bought mine with a old trickle filter, it works but probably drilling is the best option:)

basically its a pump, connected to the overflow box via a air pipe, the pipe is linked from the overflow box to the tank, basically it draws up water from the sump on restart and pushes it back into the tank, this stops the sump from overflowing when the return pump starts to draw water from the tank, i would love to take a pic but have no camera, so i can only hope you get what im saying, im not sure what the sizes need to be to match so it flows nicely but it works, however as i mentioned before it was manufactured to be used together, i didnt design it

ok well maybe i can figure it out! lol

ok so i got my 125gallon tank and stand.
i got my protien skimmer.
i got my over flow.

now how many heaters? and pumps?
also lights?
