I received the green light to build the fish quarantine/acclimation sectional tank this weekend...thinking of 12"x12"x36" with removable baffles so 3 sections 12"x12"x12" with flexibility to open it up larger when needed...

Neat and creative idea. You always have something up your sleeve.

Thanks guys! Any guesses as to what this is I just whipped up?

o2manyfish- nicely done buddy!

This will replace the drain exit from the fish room 3" pipe below temporarily:

I still want to build an insert with six filter sock rings for the drain section in the near future.

Newbie Aquarist- I have a 42" wide x 20" to work with and an estimated 11,000 GPH running through 3 socks now. I have to change them every few days to keep them from overflowing. With a tray of six I anticipate gaining a few more days in between changes and the design will be more fish friendly to those smaller adventure seeking fish that ride the falls into the sump... ;-)

Still coming along very nicely. I wish I could just buy my house already so I could start building an amazing tank like yours without having to worry about moving.

That is alot of GPH going through 3 socks. You are not counting your closed loop are you? In the end it does make more sense and getting a little longer use out of your socks.

+/- 5500 GPH turnover - overflow and return
+/- 5800 GPH - Filter room return

5500 GPH - Closed loop
8000 GPH - 2 Sicce Voyagers HP 4000s

That is the starting flow for the system and as the reef grows in I will add more...

Just to add some flavor

This is the beginnings of the fish sectional system for the benchtop...thought I'd go glass but the quote was more than I wanted to spend so I am stamping it out of this 3/8" spare sheet I had leftover in the garage...
