I wipe the exterior of the tank down each time with RO/DI water and a soft clean towel.

I then use a magnet made for acrylic with three sleeves on it and a rag on the outside...starting at the surface I work my way towards the sandbed...I turn the sleeve every 4 feet or so to keep a clean portion of the sleeve towards the tank





I have managed to keep the tank fairly scratch free over the years but its not without being very careful and never letting anyone but me wipe it down....
 
Can you provide a tad more detail on the cleaning....what type of rag do you use on the outside and what type of sleeves are those??? And you only use RO water to wipe the outside...nothing else? thx

Sure, it's just a soft rag from Costco I believe, I have used a thicker wash cloth as well in the past.

The sleeves I get from my LFS and they are made for cleaning acrylic. Not sure where else to get them. If anyone knows please sound off...

Yes, just RO/DI water and wipe it clean. I have used acrylic cleaners with caution in the past as well but for the last year it's just been water...
 
Got it...Microfiber cloths....I have a ton of them down in the workshop...thanks FYI for anyone...I use Mr Clean erase pads on the inside of my tank...works great no chemicals but would be too thick for a magnet.
 
Man I love your tank! My monti is growing the same way over my birdsnest, but my birdsnest has popped right through and continued to grow up.

Thank you for your feedback and for checking out my aquarium! Spent some time designing the rock work to accommodate large tangs and so far so good. :dance:
