Anemone <3's Powerheads

So i'm not sure why, But my BTA will do his little best to get caught up in the power heads of my tank.. I've turned off one he kept getting stuck to and relocated him to the complete other side of the tank and turn the power head back on - about 5 minutes later i look and he is back on the power head ; so again i turn off the power head and just left the power head off and he dropped to a rock down below him. Then about 10 minutes later, i look in my tank and he had travelled all the way across my tank to the other powerhead and was latched on to it... So i have my powerheads on very low power enough to make a decent flow for my other critters and my wavemaker is shortend up so it doesn't make quite an updraft into the power heads.. Any thoughts?

How do i keep my darn BTA from being pulled into the powerheads - I've had this BTA for about 3 months now and this has never been a problem

Id keep most of the flow off for the first week or so OR cover the power heads.

Thats what i'm doing for the most part - i've reduced the power to below 50% and set the wave maker option for 1 minute intervals so It will have some flow but if he decides to cling to it again - i'll reduce it more

Wave makers are a bad proposition until they are established. Think of this way, how would you feel if you were being pulled and pushed from multiple directions without having a firm grip? It wouldn't be fun. Do you see what I am getting at?

Cover the intakes. Even in tanks with BTAs that "haven't moved for months," sooner or later your wake up with shredded anemone.

Definitely agree! Just experienced my 12" Rose caught in one of my Koralia's just a couple of days ago. Quite disappointed and hope there's no loss. It has begun splitting into two. So we shall see.

Well i just talked with a buddy of mine who had the same problem apparently - and he suggested using some pantyhose over the powerheads as a precaution. I guess he's done this a few times with success so i guess i'll bug the wife for some pantyhose lol

I used a tank splitter, just took the fram off it and cut to the power head deminsions.

I have head of some people using plastic that they use for crafts, looks like cross stitching fabric but good size grid. Too small for a tenticle to go through but good for everything else.

Plus with a rubber band you just take it off / clean it / and back to use. My snails like to go over mine and clean it once a week.

It also catches my anemones discharge or a shrimp molt sometimes instead of shreading it to peieces.
