Anemone and corals?

Hello,

I am thinking about getting an anemone. We have alot of corals that are on the sanbed and rocks that really cannot be moved. Will the anemone hurt them as it moves around the tank trying to find a spot that it likes? And do they move around alot also once they settle in? Also we have 2 x Sebae and 1 x Percula clown, will they start fighting over who gets to host in it?

THank you

Most rock anemone don't like to move on sand. But any coral on the rockwork will be fair game.

Your clowns will only fight for the anemone depending on the type you get. If you get a BTA, they'll fight for sure with the percula being a sure bet looser. A Sebae or long tenticle anemone, and there is a possibility that the percula 'may' not be interested. That's not a gaurentee though.

If the anemone touches anything living, it WILL get hurt. Even die. So, if it were to brush across a coral, it could kill it. Also, they tend to move around a fair amount at first. Eventually they will settle down if you don't change your tank around. I'm surprised that the Sebaes aren't fighting with the Percula yet. Eventually someone will establish a home. Whether it's in your anemone or not. And when they do, they will probably kill the intruder. Most likely the Sebaes will kill the Percula.

I concure with the above. Introducing an anemone will make things alot hotter in the tank for the Perc. I'd recommend getting a Sebae and plopping on the far end of the tank for the Sebaes and getting a carpet (if your tank could handle it) and popping it down at the other end.

Whatever you do, don't get a BTA unless your willing to give the perc to someone else.

-OR- dont get any anemone at all.
