anemone and water change or change in chemistry

What usually happens to your anemones when you do 20% or more water change?

Or when you add alk, cal, mag...2 dose?

I have 1 green BTA and 1...I believe conga anemone.

Just did a 20% wc, and I guess I shouldn't have but I dosed 10ml of alk, cal and mag.

The BTA just shrank and disappeared into hole.....the other anemone is fine, still fully inflated.

Mine is never bothered ihave a condy anemone. However if salinity and temp werent matched a BTA is sensitive to these and could cause the mentioned behavior

Sometimes it's not what we put in but rather how you put it in.It really depends on how you proceed on your wc. For sure your nem didn't like the sudden changes if you doubled the dose. Fluctuations in parameters should be minimal.

Maybe you should remove some supplements with another wc.

I had a friend who used to do water changes like an idiot, dumping all his supplements in the new water bucket which cause precipitation and then emptying all at once in the tanks causing "burns" and damaging whatever the ' snowlike' precipitated bits would fall on. So like I said it really depends on how you do it.

I usually separate alk and cal by a few hours and/ or do it on different days and drip kalkwasser slowly for minimal visible impact on the anemone.

okay, lesson learnt.
I'll do the WC first, give it a hour or so then do the Mag then a few hours later do the 2 dose.

BTA came back out after a few hours.

Well mixed new salt water completely dissolved, temp about the same would be fine. Cal and Mag addition quickly would be fine. Alk addition need to do slow because of spike in pH. animal can be very sensitive to quick raise in pH.
