Anemone + Anemone Crab + Occ Clown Pair?

Hi All,

I recently purchased a rose anemone with an anemone crab. The anemone crab is pretty cool but the main reason for the anemone was the clows already in the tank. They just noticed the anemone last night and started hosting (Yay!), but the anemone crab has been putting up quite a fight for his anemone.

So the question is.... Will the anemone crab and clowns eventually get along ok or will one kill the other off? If the latter who is likely to win, the crab or clowns? (I don't want to lose my clowns)

Your clowns will win the battle. Even if your anemone was really big, chances of them sharing are slim.

I disagree.
I've seen many clown nem/crab combos.
Even my super fussy maroon accepted crab happily.
I think you're lucky those occs are going to nem, and I do agree they won't be pushed around or out of nem by crab, but see no prob at them all getting along.

The clowns haven't left the anemone yet. The crab has moved off to the side of the nem and they aren't bothering each other as much. They still get a claw threat when they get too close but the clowns aren't phased at all. Hopefully with a few more days of getting used to each other they'll be fine.

Agreed it happens alot in the wild as long as there is enough space for all three to not get in each others way. I may then start to have a negative effect on the anemone.
Whats enough space?
In the wild a 20 to 30 inch mertens will often have a large pair of clarks(or complex), possibly some(1-6) juvies or a pair of skunks and a pair of anemone crabs all living happily.

My Gigantia is being shared by Occy's and a crab. BUT the crab is mostly on the outskirts and underside. Never witnessed conflicts between the clowns and crab.

I have two clowns and a anemone crab hosting a single anemone... been like this for 6 months now. Should be no problem. ONe interesting note though... there is another anemone about 10 inches away... nothing hosting... neither the crab nor the clowns will have anything to do with it and all host the ONE anemone =)
