Last night after I got done feeding I noticed a string coming out of my anemone. It seems to be coming right out of the center of it and its kinda red brownish in color. My camera isint working so No pic =(

red / brown is probably the anemone dumping his zooxanthellae algae which is never a good sign, if it's black, more than likely waste.

a 14G is very small and makes me wonder about your water quality, can you list the result from all your test kits please??

also what do you dose and how?

what type of anemone is it?

how old is your system?

how long have you had the anemone?

what lighting do you have??

and try to borrow a camera and get a pic......

not good

not good

Stock lighting in inadequate. I really wish people would research these animals before adding them to thier systems and condemning them to death. I would much rather answer questions before the purchase is made. Man just a google search is all it takes. Ugh!
Your anemone if not dying now it will soon, sorry but thats the truth.

Heteractis magnifica (Ritteri, or Magnificent Anemone)
Difficulty: Most difficult
Maximum size: 3 feet in diameter or larger. The 2nd largest of all clown anemones.
Recommended Minimum Tank Size: Large (minimum 75 gallons)
Placement in Tank: On top of a rock structure in good flow, top third of the tank
Light: Bright metal halide lighting, preferably above 175W
Current: Strong.

Hopefully its just a bta..Some times people think they have a Mag when all they have is a bta.
If it is a magnifica, you should return it to the lfs or person you bought it from. A 14g is not a good tank for a magnifica. You could also try sell it to some one with a bigger better tank.

I asked the LFS I got it from I think I have the name wrong he told me it was one of the easy anemones and that it would be ok in my tank. He also told me that it wouldnt move much so i think I got the type wrong.

Ok i just called the lfs and he told me its a sebae and that its just waste nothing to worry about. he also told me my lights are fine for a sebae

The eaisest type is a bta. (still considered difficult) If you were told it would not move much, that is not exactly the case.
Without a photo there is nothing more I can tell you.

I think you should find a more knowledgable LFS

Heteractis crispa (Leathery, Long Tentacle Anemone, or LTA (also sebae anemone))
Difficulty: More difficult.
Maximum size: 1 1/2 feet in diameter, with 6”+ long tentacles.
Recommended Minimum Tank Size: Medium (minimum 40 gallons).
Placement in Tank: No strong preference. In sand if brightly lit, else on rocks.
Light: Metal halide lighting.
Current: Moderate.

rookie+14 gallons+inadequate lighting = BRING IT BACK NOW

Seriously, not to be a downer, but if its a mag I'd bring it back pronto. Otherwise I give it 2 weeks max. If it dies it can wipe out everything else in the tank, especially in 14 gallons.
