Anemone Dying?

We came back from a short stint away to find our usually large anemone looking extremely deflated and sick. No idea what might have been the issue. We did recently cover the tank and saw an increase in algae across the board so our first thought was that it was getting too warm inside the tank so we took off the cover. That night the anemone seemed to come back to life and look great to which we left it to run through the daily lighting cycle. We returned that afternoon to see him deflated again and looking close to dead. We immediately turn off the lights and he has inflated a bit but not to full stature. We also removed our heater as we thought this may have been malfunctioning causing a heating issue. He is now in sort of a half inflated state and still not looking well. His mouth also looks a bit chewed up. The pictures dont do our concern justice but any ideas from that scenario might help. Thanks for reading.

Looks fine from the pics, but if you really are concerned there's not much you can do other than to keep things as stable and consistent as possible. Try testing your water, even if nothing shows up do a few 10 to 20% water changes everyday for about a week. Whenever anything goes wrong with my tank the first thing I do is multiple water changes. Even if that doesn't fix anything it sure doesn't hurt.

You could also check to make sure nothing foreign has dropped into the tank. Even a small screw or coin will cause major headaches.

Yeah, looks nice to me too.
Most nems I've had do expand/contract.
Really tank info and params would help, and how long running.
And what is temp?
Are you feeding?
