Well I have a chance to get this anemone but Im confused as to what type it is. It is being sold as a Haddoni but I don't believe it is one but possibly a Atlantic. If you look close at the column you can see Purple Vescules and it has longer tenticles. At first I thought it was a Gigantea, then a Mertens but now I just don't know. Please help ID!

It's very nice looking. I would say maybe Stichodactyla gigantea myself. More pics would help. Whoever told you haddoni is mistaken I believe. I would lean more toward gigantea based on the length of the tentacles.

Looks like a gigantea. I just this week tried recouping two very similar to your picture that my LFS got in by mistake. They didn't make it, but not a shocker since they were deflating and gaping at the store and the owner was on his way to chuck them. It took about a week for them to go.

Try PMing him. Its the best way of contacting him. Its like the middle of the school year, and mid year grades are due...and he is a teacher...

I am actually thinking its an atlantic or maybe a gigantea, but it doesn't seem to have the longer more stubby tentacles that I am used to seeing on them. I wouldn't know about the foot though...

What is the price?

Here are the pics of the two I tried to save from the trash. I did a short antibiotic dip on them during acclimation as a last ditch effort. One died after a few days and one hung in there and looked to be improving for several days, but then started to have rotting areas on the tentacles. It is still hanging in there now, but I'm sure it won't make it.

I am pretty certain that they are the same type as your picture and that they were giganteas.

A pic of the healthier one when it was improving

A couple more pics are in the album if you click.

My guess - probably a gigantea, but I wouldn't rule out helianthus until we could get a better look at it. 100% not haddoni or mertensii, though, that much we can tell. :)

You don't have to wait for me. :D You pretty much have the opinions of all the best anemone people on the board. 99.9% gigantea.

I just got one the same color. It started off great, but I don't think its going to make it. I think I am going to pass on all giganteas for a while.

I feel your pain Phil, especially with the recent lot of S. haddonis I received. Im hoping that these guys do well and enjoy there new ocean home.
