anemone health

I bought an bubble tip anenome yesterday. it looked a little deflated, but the guy said it was extremely healthy. the guy said if the foot is sticky it's a good sign of health, and it took him a good 5 minutes a get him up (it's 2 inches across max).

after acclimation I placed it in a good spot, and it stuck right away. I woke up this morning and it's still there but it looks different now, it has short bubbly tentacles. is this a good sign? I attached 2 pics below.

I've read all I could on these before and after I bought it and I couldn't really find out if short or long tentacles mean good health. is it just the mood it's in at the time?

my tank as of now is 0,0,10 and phosphates read 0, but I know I have them in the tank.

the anemone looks great, and healthy. long tentacles or bubbly don't matter they can be both ways and still be healthy, you really wanna watch the color and the mouth area's if the mouth seems like it is gaping open or the insides are comming out then you have a problem.

Bubble tips are usually seen with bubbled shorter tentacles but they can lose the bubbles and have what looks like LTA tentacles. Either way is fine and not a display of health either way. I've had some keep the bubbles and some lose the bubbles. Nobody knows why it happens but it does. Nothing to worry about.

nice! I read in so many places that an anenome will move around a lot when you first put it in the tank. I got really nervous this morning when I saw it in the same spot (and looking completely different).

should I try to feed it right away, or should I wait a week. the last article I read said it's best to leave the anemone alone for a week and then try to feed. the one before that said I should try to feed it right away. my gut says to leave it alone until next week and try to spot feed it before the next water change. what do you think?

Looks perfectly healthy to me. Give it a week before you feed it. Just let it settle in. It may like the spot you gave it and never move. Or it could go exploring.

Looks and sounds healthy to me. If his mouth is tightly closed, he is good to go.

He may or may not move. I have been lucky enough to have both my nems to not move an inch from their original placement. I would make sure that my PHs are covered, especially for the first couple weeks, to ensure he doesn't get caught up in one if he does decide to go on a mission.

Leave him alone for the first week, don't feed or bother him and let him settle. ;) His coloration is nice.

Happy Reefin!

thanks everyone! I'll just watch over him for the next week and try to feed before the next water change. I hope it stays where it is now and starts to grow. this is my first nem and I'm very excited about it right now.

this thing like at least doubled in the last week. it hasn't moved from where I put it. the tentacles aren't bubbly anymore, they're mostly straight like the picture below.

the mouth looks tight and I haven't seen anything come out of it, so I guess it's doing well. I'm going to feed it tomorrow and see what happens.

Picture quote for those who can't see them.
Losing the bubbles isn't a sign of health in any way. Before my first rose split it was about 8 inches and sometimes it would be long tentacle sometimes bubbled and sometimes 50/50. Its common.
