Anemone help! It is stuck in a bad spot

I have a 24g nano cube dx and it seems the anemone has wandered to the intake spot where the water from the main display enters to the back chamber. Parts of the anemone is squeezed between each teeth. I tried turning off the powerhead and slow touching hoping it would retract back out the other way but it doesnt. It seems like it is stuck there. Is there anyway to remove it?

Without seeing it, and not being familiar with your set up, I would wait a little while and see if it moves on it's own. Does it look like it's injured in any way?

It might be injured I dont know, but I dont want to wait until it does. There is a picture in my gallery. Sorry I dont know how to post pictures.

It looks like it's in there pretty good. Can you take something like a plastic spoon or something and see if you can get it out very gently moving small pieces of it at a time? Can you take the chamber apart so that it may be easier to work with?

I tried the spoon thing, but for some reason I get most of it out then one part is really inflated so I cant push the last part through. I am afraid to make the anemone pop.

sounds like you've already started "helping" it out. You should turn off all flow and let it sit for a couple days. If it doesn't escape on it's own I have been successful cutting the anemone free.

Ok well I just got home from work. And the anemone sort of just split in half. As I moved it to cut the grill the part stuck in the main display sort of just deteriorated. now I have 2 piece of anemone. Will it be ok? I am going to take some picture right now and put them up in my gallery. Please give me thought on what I should do to care for him especially since he is injured now. Only half of him fell off.

Ok i cut the grill more flowing is going through it seems, but witht eh half anemone i put the smaller one against the glass inside a water bottle top so the hermit crabs dont disturb and the bigger on in a crevice of the rock.

I can't really tell much from the picture. I would pull any very small pieces or pieces that don't have and "foot" on them. Then let the healthier parts sit on some rock with low flow for a few days. Once they attach to the rocks you can turn the flow back up a bit and increase the light. Don't feed them until you can see a formed mouth.

Good luck.

FindingNemo has a site that has a lot of good info. http://www.karensroseanemones.com/index.htm

The bigger part of the anemone just opened up a little so it seems like it should be ok. But still has that big rip on the side.

Ninja,

I was under the impression that is split on it's own. Was it torn?

I have a good pic of the cut down the side of mine when it split. If you are interested, PM me your e-mail address.

Well it sort of split/cut on its own. When it went through the grill the side that stuck in the main display started whitening and when I moved it to cut the grill it fell apart into 2 pieces.

It has been one days since the falling apart of the anemone. The bigger anemone seems to be ok. It is opened up and the tips are bubbled up, so I think it is going to make it. The smaller 1/2 looks a little better than yesterday, should I try to wait it out or should I throw it away in fear of polluting the rest of my tank. I would put it in a qt tank but my lights, filtration arent sufficient enough.

I don't recommend moving the BTA, it will cause more stress, do more frequent water changes, and wait a little longer, If they are showing signs of improvement, they both have a chance still.

Make sure you cover what ever it was it got trapped in. When mine split, they seemed to do a lot of roaming afterwards. You don't want to go through this again.
