Anemone help

So I got an anemone (Green bubble tip) last week and he hid underneath a rock in the cave my coral beauty sleeps in. His mouth is closed however his tentacles stayed short.

This morning I noticed he shriveled up and went farther into the cave and he is about half the size. It also looks like there is white stuff coming out from the center of the anemone.

Is it dying? It is still attached to the rock.

When an anemone is dying/stressed they release a white milky substance into the water. This is harmful to your tank as a dead anemone can trash your whole system.

9 times out of 10 the anemone will perish.

How old is your system?

close to 6 months. My sps and lps corals are doing well so my water quality is good.

Ammonia, nitrite are at 0 and nitrate is at 10

could just be expellig waste. I wouldn't worry to much yet, most BTA's will hide in caves when introduced to a new tank till it gets used to the light then will come out.

How long does that usually take I put him in my tank on Friday? If he was dying wouldn't he have detached from the rock?

it could take up to a few days to a few weeks before he decides to come out of the cave it is up to the anemone, they will do their own thing.

most of the time they will detach from the rock when dying. I would say if your SPS are doing well then your water should be good enough for a BTA

Here it is

When you bought it was it fully expanded? Was it attached to anything? If so, how did they remove it from where it was attached?

It was not attached to anything. It was not fully expanded the tentacles were a little longer but they were still short but it did double in size. It used to be a quarter now its about half the size of my palm

This morning it was all the way in a hole in the rock probably the size of a quarter. And there was white stuff coming out of its mouth. Now It does look like the mouth is closed.

There's really nothing you can do but wait it out. Keep your water params spot on. Don't try moving it at this point. It's obviously pretty stressed out.

in the last 6 weeks I have put about 8 A's in my tanks. Most of them were in caves or out of the light for 2-3 weeks....after 6 weeks most are now in a spot they like but they moved multiple times. What you can try is to put a small powerhead close to it with a strong flow...not overwhelming but strong.... The A will either like it and open or move to another spot that it likes more and thus start to open.... and I had a few that looked liked yours and popped out of it...
