i have bought a few RBTA's in the past and they all seem to do the same thing, they only open (inflate) on one side and the other side looks not as good and then it starts to shrink. my tank has been running for 3 years, and all my levels are where they should be.

Does anyone know what causes this.

Nitrate 0, ammonia 0, phosphate 0, temp 78, salinity 1.026

What's your pH?

What's your lighting?

Do you have clownfish 'loving it to death'?

Also, pictures are always helpful.

i posted a picture above, Ill post it again in this reply. i have a pair of maroon clowns who have started to host to it as i just added the RBTA to the tank on Wednesday. Both of the clowns seem to enjoy the anemone very much. my pH is 8.1, and my lighting i have 4 kessil a360 LED lights on my tank.

I bet your clowns are killing it. I've never had maroons, but I have heard they are very rough on anemones. I would try seperating them with egg crate, see if you can get it healthy, then let the maroons play with it again.

When my BTA's are on the side of a rock and angled toward the surface on one side and the other side towards the gravel just like yours is, mine do the exact same thing, only mine don't bubble :hammer:

The tentacles closer to the light are longer than the ones that are away from the light. So I'd say nothing to worry about, especially since all of your BTA's have done the same thing. If it was to be flat on a rock I'm sure the tentacles would be more uniform.

Thank you everyone, I decided to just not worry about it because it seems to looking a bit better than yesterday. Also decided to add another BTA to disperse the love.
