Ok, so I could not resist this guy being sold at BTA price with 20% off all saltwater critters, so 24 bucks. I'm pretty sure about what it s but I want the experts to weigh in. Tips of tentacles are a glowing green/yellow. Mouth is tight, it's been roaming around my tank staying on the rocks, pretty actively figuring out where it wants to settle. Husband saw it when he got up at 5 AM this morning fully opened up (mouth tight) and estimates it at about 5 inches across. Picture is from when it was still at Petco.

My vote is a bleached BTA
I guess I've never come across a BTA with a column that was so strongly color demarcated from the tentacles. The column seems almost leathery, and it's a deep maroon-red. So when I'm looking at the mouth, you're expecting me to see white streaks? That's going to be tough because the entire top of the thing is pure white except for the yellow/green tips. Anything else diagnostic about the mouth?
Minh, it looks to me to be extremely similar to a magnifica you used to have with a red column. Do you have any shots of that one from the top down? Could you see verrucae in the very deeply coloured column?
It's currently hanging out in an impossible to photograph position, but I'll keep trying to get more shots as it settles in.

Its defently a BTA when you look at the tenticals you can see the bubbles in the about mid way up on some. Some BTAs arent prevalent on showing the bubble trait

Also its probably bleached. As mentioned earlier good lighting and time will hopefully help it

I'm so sorry to hear that. I get attached to things too. I had a Borneman's anemone for 12 years that died in a horrific tank crash. Luckily, it had split and my doctor had the clone in his office tank. It split again and I just got it back 
. And once again, my clowns (completely different pair and species) prefer the Borneman's to any of the myriad other anemones available to them. I keep trying to explain to them that they are doing it wrong, but they ignore me completely.

I dont have a top down picture of my Red Magnifica. The reason I asked if you have a picture of the mouth is that BTA have at least one or two white radial line from the mouth. If he have that, he is a BTA, not Magnifica.
