Anemone ID please

I purchased some new rock in June and discovered this hitchhiker. When I discovered it the central area was about the size of a nickle. Now its the size of a silver dollar. Is this a pest that needs to be removed or should I leave it?

Looks like an aiptasia to me. If so, it's a pest and you'll want to remove it or kill it.

That's the biggest Aiptasia that I've ever seen.

Yup, it's aptasia.
It's a pest, best to nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Actually it might not be an aiptasia. I was checking out Segrest Farms website and came across this little beauty in their anemone page.

Curlique Anemone Bartholomea annulata - the article goes on to say they are a member of the Aiptasia family, so both are correct. So ya go ahead and kill it :hammer:

Inject it's mouth with boiling water is the easiest

Or get a peppermint shrimp - they work well for extinguishing aptasias.

Peppermint shrimp are hit or miss ime, and most wont even touch big aptasia. Use boiling water, lemon juice, or kalk paste to kill it.
