i have had a 24" diameter pizza in my old 300... i dont think this ones a pizza ... im leaning toward mertensii but i know there are not alot of them around so maybe it was just a lucky find??

no i didnt get it from there... i never order anemones online.. i have to always check the foot to see if there is damage/cuts.. i am very particular about my specimens ....

Mertensii? but isn't their colors only brown or green? When you say not sticky are you talking about its tentacles..if so then it is a mertensii ..its lost a lot of its color.

if it is..I am sooo green with envy..thats the anemone I want:( you lucky dog you:p

Had one on their site it was 249 for a gigantea and it had spots on its verrucruce all the way up and to the base.

yes the tenticles are not sticky compared to other carpets i had in the past... the anemone is in perfect health imo.. i have seen other nice color mertensii's but not this color... its eating every night .. i chop up a small piece of silversides dipped in selcon... the foot of this anemone has purple lines that are connected....

Generally only brown or green, but there are a few color variations I've seen...one is kind of a purple, which I think this one might be with underlaying zooxanthellae returning.

I'm gonna want some better pics to ID this by...if it really is a Merten's carpet, you're a lucky man.

It does look heathly as in its mouth is tightly shut. I hope you have it in your largest tank. These anemones get to 3.2 feet + they are the monsters of anemones.

No i don't believe its a pizza. I had one for a short time and they have the split tentacles on the outer edge which this one if you look really closely does not have.

I was going to go with the mertensii as my gigantea does not have verracue all the way down. Will be beautifull if thats what it indeed is.Lucky guy:)

maybe ill start a "R1ddlers 720gallon anemone tank" page... next time i set that beast up i will have to do something crazy
