Ok so I bought this anemone last week and I ordered a Ritteri, but the more and more I look around at pics of other Ritteri mine does not looke like those was I sent the wrong anemone? Or is this just the way they look after shipping and acclimation? I got it on Thurs. The first 2 pics starting from the left are of mine and the last 2 are photos of others on RC

Does it have any dots on the column? Has it buried it's foot in the sand next to the rock? What lights do you have? Just trying to get an idea.

I have 3 250w HQI 10k and 8T5 an I have seen spots on the underside of the body. I cant tell if the foot is buried or not its in between 2 rocks

Well, without seeing the column it is tough to say. It could be a long tentacle anemone(M. dorneesis?).. LTAs will have dots on the column and perfer to be in the sand with their foot wedged under the rock.

Y the dots dont look like those dots. Maybe its still kind of deflated and getting used to its new surroundings?

Thanks alot for youre help Ill give it a couple days and see what happens. It was in pretty bad shape when I got it so maybe its just recouperating. Ill keep you posted

Yeah, tentacles look like crispa and the fact it is staying on the sand points to crispa, but a pic of the column would close the case. Doesn't look like a long tentacle to me at all.

So when I ordered this anemone I called them and asked them if it was a purple foot or red foot Ritteri and the guy said it was a purple foot so I ordered it. Now its been a couple of days and it looks nothing like the photos of Ritteri I've seen or saw when I ordered it. So this morning I looked up H.crispa like you guys told me to and I found a pic that looks almost identical to mine. Same coloration same tentacles etc. My anemones base and foot are a light light purple almost whiteish color, not the deep dark purple of every Ritteri I've seen. What's the best way to check the pedestal of my anemone without hurting it just so I can be 100% sure before calling to complain.

That's a pic oi found online but it looks a lot like mine light colored base and column small spots on the underside and a lot of stringy tentacles around the outer rim not a lot as you get closer to the mouth. Were as a Ritteri has thicker tentacles and they sort of cover the entire face of the anemone. Does that sound right?
