Anemone in "shade"

I recently purchased a BTA who has now attached itself under a ledge in the "shade". I know these need light to survive soooo should I be worried? In the past I also had the same experience but i would manually move the anemone as I was scared. Should i be worried? will the anemone just move when he "needs" to? The sad part is i like where he is!

I got a RBTA and had it for about a week it did the same thing as your's did.I turned off my Lights to the back of the tank and on my sump .It moved by the next day towards the lights that were left on in the front . The only thing I could figue was it was drawn to that part of the tank because the light from the sump shown though a bare sport in the sand. You couldn't see it shine though unless you looked up under the tank while the tank lights were on and sump lights off. Good Luck.

Thanks all! it is possible there could be a hole in the rock the light is shining through to the anemone. now i have reached a second issue. i have an oscellaris clown who had not shown the anemone any attention after it's addition. well out of curiousity and hope i tried the whole tape a picture of a clown and anemone on the glass and what do you know! within a couple of hours tops i come back and there he is in the anemone! the problem here is that i understand this makes anemones "less" likely to move. so the anemone isnt "smart" enough to know he needs light to survive? where he is he does get limited light but nothing close to direct light.

I'm no expert when it comes to nems but I think I have read other threads where they acclimate to light. so maybe it came out of a lower light tank and then going into yours with higher light..... maybe.

The clown is probably a fourth the size of it. still no movement from it as of this morning. i'm wanting to add a second clown but debating on whether i would need to get a second BTA. which preferrably i would not. still worried about this one for now!

It needs to be acclimated to your lighting. If it came from a LFS with a few T-5's and you have 6-8 bulbs or MH then there is a significant increase in the intensity that the anemone is receiving. If this the case what is normally recomended is 3 layers of window screen placed ontop of some eggcrate between the lights and the anemone. Removing one layer of screen at a time every 5-7 days until fully acclimated. They will probably wander once introduced unless you placed them in a spot with decent flow and a crevace to hide their foot.
