Anemone in the shade

I foolishly bought a carpet carpet anemone from the local fish store. He is white or very very pale green. We have a 156 gallon tank which is stable and growing sps without difficulty. I put the carpet on the gravel under the metal halodines. He has moved himself into the rocks under a shady overhang. He's eating well and gets bigger at night when the lights are off. During the day he is open and quiet. At night he looks more like a tulip.
We've had him 2 weeks now and he seems ok but I'm concerned he's not getting enough light and why does he seem more awake at night? Thanks.

Because it is bleached it can't process the light right now so it has moved into shade area. Since it cannot process light for food you will need to target feed him. Small pieces of meaty food like shrimp, mussels, scallops or the like. Rule of thumb is not to feed anything larger than its mouth so you have to judge on that. If you over feed he'll just regurgitate later. I'd start small and feed every few days. As it get's better and learns to adapt to the light he'll move out when he can handle it.
