anemone is under a rock? Normal?

I have had it for almost three weeks now. It was doing fine untill we had to move some of the live rock around. It then moved in between and then under a large piece of rock. it has been under it for 2 days now. I run my lights on a 12 hour cycle and I have two white and two actinic VHO 48' bulbs. Its a 90 gallon on top and a 30 gallon sump on bottom. It is light purple at the base of the tentacles and gets darker toward the tips. It looks like a Condy anemone from pictures I have seen on line. I will try to get a picture of it but it is barely visible right now.

nitrite/nitrate =<.3
carbonate hardness=10dh
salinity=1.023
I added 10 ml of Kent iodine about a week ago per LFS instructions.
I also started a Kalkwasser and vinegar suppliment at the same time. I use 1 tsp kalk to 3 tsp vinegar to a gallon of water. I use half a gallon per day in the make up water.

I also need to ID what kind of coral this is? Is this considered a hard coral since it grows out of hard material?
Looks like a "Flower Pot" - Goniopora / Alveopora (From my reading, Goniopora is apparently quite difficult to successfully maintain in the hobby reef environment, while Alveopora is notably more hardy).

Your anemone looks to me like an LTA. You should bring your salinity up some to 1.025 - 1.026. Also, yes that is a goniopora. They are difficult to keep because our tanks generally are too clean for them. Though they are slightly photosynthetic, they require a large amounts of phytoplankton in order to survive. If you do not dose already, start dozing A LOT, or sell/trade it to someone who can care for it properly before it dies.
I took the goniapora back to the LFS because it was deteriorating at the bottom. He told me my water has too many nutrients that give rise to cyno bacteria. I have some red film on my tank. I was told to do a 30% water change and start using vodka to make my skimmer work better. My parameters that I could test all look fine. I only had 35 lbs of live rock and today I added 40 more lbs because LFS said I needed more LR.
Everything else in the tank is healthy, even the anemone crawled back out.

I got my LR from a LFS, he had it in a tank full of other rocks and I noticed it was dimly lit. It was about a 45 minute trip from tank to tank. I am preparing to do my first water change in the next few days and I have not done one ever before.( newbie) I bought a "back up" rio pump for my tank that I will use to circulate the new water.
I also bought a new DI water filter, Gee this hobby is really getting expensive!!
Any tips or suggestions would be welcome.

So let me understand this right...you've not done a water change yet on this tank? How long has it been running? Did the lfs you bought the nem from know your tank was this new? If so I would urge you to find a different store. Additionally, I would NOT recommend you do vodka dosing for three reasons....1) you are new and 2) you likely so not understand the innerworkings of what vodka dosing actually does, and 3) you should learn how to run your tank successfully before you add more variables like carbon dosing. Also, I do not know how vodka dosing will affect anemones, anyone know? Vodka dising is not a newbie thing to dive into. It's like the first time driving and hopping into a race car at the Indy 500. Learn basics first, then go nuts.
How long does it need to be going to be "Mature"? What signs do I need to look for in the tank to know its ready? The Goniopora was going down hill and we took him back up to the LFS, he says he will keep him untill my tank gets right for him. I have two orange and white clown fish and would like to find an anemone that it would host with as soon as the tank will let me. The purple anemone looks really good today, he has been acting strange last week but seems ok for today at least. The clown fish and everything else except the pepermint shrimp and hermits keep well away from the purple anemone.
I am going to start the Vodka dosing tommorrow and see if that will help things out.

I agree with you and the newbie thing, I have a little backround in chemistry and did a lot of reading on this procedure. I asked the LFS if it was my phosphates that was bad since I could not test for that. I read that carbon dosing would help with that. He told me that without a mass spectrometer it would be hard to tell exactly what is in the water but it for sure wasnt right for the goniopora. He told me what he does when my scenerio happens in one of his tanks. How do you suggest I go about my tank ?

From where I live the closest LFS is about 45 minutes away. I hope I am ok doing this, I did not discover this online help and forums untill after the fish and rocks were in there.
I am trying to make the best out of this and not lose a lot of money if the tank has major problems. If i could get some close guidance with out irratating anybody from my lack of experience it would be great. I could e mail pictures and or short videos of my set up. I am wanting to lean all I can and be a knowledgeable person with marine tanks.
