Anemone Limbo

Hey people,

So ice had my tank set up for about 10months now. Planned on it being a strictly bta tank, but have started a zoa garden. Anyway, I'm having issues with one of my GBTAs.

I've had said bta for around 3 months now, it seemed to have settled in just fine after about a week (was inflated, moving etc), then it began to change color from fluorescent green arms and deep purple foot to the color you see now. This all happened after about a month after being introduced to my tank.

When it was changing color I freaked out and got new lighting (1x Radion XR30w). However it has neither improved or worsened since. I assume my water is fine as both my other btas are doing fine, I just have no idea what's going on with this one specimen.

Oh, and it shows no reaction to food, i have only fed it once since its been in my tank and it went downhill from that feed (de-inflation), it also expels some brown stuff that my cleaner shrimp and clowns love to eat.

I know they do weird stuff from time to time, but I'm just wondering why this one would appear so 'sick' and my others be fine.

Any similar experiences? Any advice?

I assume most would say just let it and time will tell, but it's been two months of leaving it alone...

Tank parameters:

Salinity - 1.024 - 1.025 (never fluctuates higher or lower)

PH - 8.3
Amm - 0
NI- 0
Na - 0
Phos - 0.1
Cal - 400
Mag - 1150
KH - 8

Cheers everyone :)

It looks as though it has wandered to a less than ideal position - I would move it to an area with more flow and light.

It's getting good lighting where it is, just not showing up well in the photos, flow probably could be better I agree, I usually blast it a little when I feed the tank to get rid of anything that may be sitting on it.

I'm not comfortable with removing it from the rock surface, if it were on glass I would move it no issues. I can't move the rock because my other GBTA is underneath it.

I recently just re-aquascaped and flipped it's rock around, so it is actually in a better position now in regards to both light and flow that it was two weeks ago.

You can try other methods to move it such as pointing a powerhead directly at it. In the position its in now, I imagine it is not getting enough flow and is the most likely cause of its sickly appearance IMO.

Color wise, I think the color of your anemone is fine. When he was florescent green, he was likely bleached.
He looks stressed right now. If he does not deflates you should just leave hjm be. Try to feed him and see if he eat small bits of food.
