Anemone not looking good.

Hi guys I've had a BTA for a couple of months now. When I first bought it it was really nice but over the span of the months I've had it, it has changed and it doesn't look as good. It was a dark tan and it is a light tan with hints of green. It's tentacles are always skinny as opposed to plump sometimes some of them are retracted. It's weird later I'll put some pics. The lighting has changed. I had it under MH for some months. Sold the MHs and had it under PCs for a while until I got my T5s.

Water parameters are normal I think, my salinity is around 35ppt thats with a hydrometer. Later Ill have my LFS check the water to see if my hydrometer is off. I feed it like once a week.

What do you think?

#1 get the salinity down.Dont go do a huge water change but do one about 30%.
#2 I would say most of your problems are dure to the fac tthat the anemone has changed lighting 3 times!

How big is it, any fish hosting, how big are they, how often and what do you feed it?

The lights have certainly had some effect on it. How long has it been under the T-5's, and what type/brand light fixture.

Why get the SG down? 35ppt is right around 1.025-1.026

Well it's been under T5s now maybe like two months.

Looks pretty healthy to me. If it was real unhappy it would likely be moving around. How much and how often do you feed it?

The thing about where it is is that the rock has a hole. So it's entire "stem" is in the hole. I think it really likes the hole because it NEVER has moved from the rock since I got it.

I feed it very sporadically. I think on average it might be once a month. Some sort of meaty food I bought at my LFS.

The thing that worries me is that sometimes 1 to 5 tentacles will be shriveled like you see in the second picture.

I would feed it atleast once per week. I feed mine everyday. With adequate light they can survive for long periods without much food, but to thrive it will need to be fed more.

I wouldnt be too concerned about he tentacles, mine does that too. Probably just flushing waste. How much does your salinity swing weekly?

I would feed it everyday but I get concerned that I may be overfeeding it, is that much to worry about?

I have a Tunze osmolator so my salinity is pretty rock solid.

You would have to feed it alot and I mean alot to overfeed it. The bigger concern is nutrient problems. Dont increase the feeding all at once, work it up over time so you dont overload your biofilter, and so your maintenance routines can be adjusted to compensate.
