Anemone question.... deflated looking?

Saltcity

In Memoriam
I bought this Anemone 3 days ago.
Seems like when I get up in the morning it looks flat and deflated but after a few hours in the lights it looks like the second pic.?
It hasn't moved since I placed it in the tank.

Do I have a problem? (It's been several years since owning my last Anemone but I don't remember it doing this)

Salinity= 1.o24
Temp. 78
PH=8.1
Nitrite=....color shows .0 or close
Alk= on the test it is in the normal range, maybe around 2.3-2.4

A lot of btas do this..some times every day. Once it gets fully acclimated to your tank it might do this less often. It is either getting rid of waste or doing its own water change.

for all anemones the ideal SG is 1.025 or 1.026

Ok... Got me a little worried.
I will have my Clown this Thursday so maybe that will help..

Actually, yesterday I thought some gunk came out of its mouth...

I would almost bet money that it ate a snail, shell and all.... Not sure if thats possible. I only have 4 snails right now and one of them was hangin all around the Anemone and then I came back just a bit later and the Anemone was all closed up like it was shovin food down its throat!!! Haven't seen the snail since?:lol:

I freaked out when I woke up one morning and saw the way my anemone looked, turned out it was just eliminating its waste.

You might want to make sure the anemone has time to settle in and is doing well before adding a clown if you think the anemone is having a tough time settling into the tank. But, from the pics your anemone looks fine.

Usually it will be deflated in the morning and by 10am or so its full and normal looking.
TODAY, it looks terrible.
Normal? Should I just relax?

The only time I start to worry about my BTAs..is when they start to look like they are shrinking in size or they look like they are losing their color. If they aren't doing any of this after they inflate again ..then there is nothing to worry about. They look pretty darn pathetic while getting rid of waste or changing the water in their body.

I have gone through my share of freaking out with my btas (so has many other bta owners)..so I totally understand what you are going through and I don't mind explaining what is normal bta behavior.
