Is it possible for a long tentacle anemone to live in a tank without sand?

I just got another tank that came with a LTA and it is barebottom its not really attached to anything at the moment. So whats going to happend to it without sand? I read that they need a sandbed so be able to attach itself to it.

I will be adding sand in within 2 days.

mine attached to the LR in just minutes. cut the flow off and place it where you want it, but i promise you, it will go where it wants to be so, just hope it decides to reside away from any corals. my purple BTA was 18" in diameter when i sold it and the LR it was attached to for $200.00!

i have Key West Pink anemone only, max size is 5"-6" in diameter.

you can safely cut flow up to one hour before bacteria starts to die off, but it shouldnt take nearly that long to attach.
once it has attached leave the flow cut for a few more minutes and it will hold itself in place. just inspect the foot to insure it doesnt blow away when you restart flow.
i quit the sand thing years ago, see my current tanks listing below.

Yes it is possible for long tents to live without sand but it is best that they have sand so they can Bary they're foot in the sand for more comfort. But like reefnetworth said he will move where he feels more comfortable just be prepared to move you landscape around him and you should be fine. :)

Thank you both for the responses. There arent any corals in the tank yet just the anemone. Im waiting for it to find its spot before I add anything else. So its got first dibs on wherever it would like to go.
