My bubble tip anemone split on the 7th of this month. It was beautiful one day, I did a 20% water change a few days in a row to catch up on some nitrates, then the next day it split. This isn't the first time I have done 20% water changes 3,4,5 or 6 days in row. I've had him for 2 years so its been through a lot. neither halves has fully filled since it has split. It will fill a little each day. Very little, then it flattens out each night and gives off a recreation of stuff. My clowns still stay in them and sleep there overnight. Parameters are, 1.026, ph 8.0, nitrate less than 5, calcium 440, alk 8.0, phosphates 0.03, temp 78.4, mag 1350.

I've never had one split so I don't know how long it should be down. What's going on??

Today one filled a little and the other is still flat. Both still has a good foot hold. You can see the slime around the inflated one.

Hi, I like the color of your anemone... do you have any clownfish that live with it? Also, when you said it splits...you meant you need to cut it a half? May I ask how you cut it? I have a big anemone and like to split it too but do not know how...

He means that the nem split into two by itself. It's aesexual reproduction. I wouldn't recommend that you cut your nem in two; it'll probably kill it. When the time is right and it's big enough your nem should split by itself.
