anemone splitting?

I got an anemone in a piece of rock I bought about 3 months ago. Recently it decided to move and it looks like it left a piece of the stem or foot behind. Is that just dead tissue or can that become a new anemone?
I have some pictures here but they are not great.
I was also told that maybe it is a mushroom.
Any one know what it is and if it split?

Some soft coral, especially mushrooms, and anemones can asexually reproduced by pedal laceration, which was what yours coral did. It moves and leave part of it's foot behind which will grow into another coral.

Well now about 10 days have passed and I actually see the little baby taking form. Its nice to see.
